As you would expect, the main character Jonathan Joestar and his adopted brother Dio have an antagonistic relationship, which begins when Dio poisons his son, Joseph. Dio then joins the aristocratic family, secretly vowing to take everything from Jonathan Joestar. The story is set in late nineteenth-century Victorian England, when wealthy landowner George Joestar mistakenly thinks that he owes money to a common thief. After taking the man's son, Dio, as a result of his mistake, becomes a vampire.
